Lets prioritize Accessibility
for Indigenous Students
Accessibility to higher education for indigenous learners has become institutional, regional and national priorities in Canada. Call to action #11 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada states: We call upon the federal government to provide adequate funding to end the backlog of first Nations students seeking a post-secondary education. Colleges, institutes, polytechnics and universities have several initiatives and services to support Indigenous students. The success of attracting, retaining and graduating Inndigenous students continues to be challenging to most institutions.
MásAlta assists institutions with processes that:
- Demonstrates their commitment to culture
- Honours Indigenous ways of learning
- Supporting individuals through cultural, academic, and personal mentoring services
- Empowers Indigenous learners to develop leadership ability that is culturally based
